Sunday Wrap!

29 08 2011

Crosspoooooiiiiiinnnnnntttt! 🙂 It’s been a whirlwind of a couple of days. No, seriously. Here’s the look back at another great Sunday at CP.

– We wrapped up our “Summer Blockbuster” series with “Mission Impossible”. Tag-team preaching by Con, Mark, and Tim on how we can make the mission of Crosspoint possible! When we are planning to tag team we take some time to discuss the text and the main ideas that we want to draw out. After that, we really don’t know what the other guys are going to say. It’s always fun to see how God brings it together and the three messages come together to pretty much say the same thing.

– It was ‘Hurricane Irene’ Sunday. It was raining pretty good during church and as people were coming to church as the front end of Irene was making its way into NB. Still, a very very good summer crowd despite the weather.

– Loved the worship set! It was one of those Sundays when we could really hear you sing. Don’t hold anything back! Worship has very little to do with how we feel and everything to do with how awesome God is. Open your mouth, sing it out, raise your hands. 🙂

– Pastor Jamie had 18 teens in the youth class during the second service. Woooooo!!!

– It was the second ‘Potluck Sunday’ of the summer. We BBQ most Sundays of the summer and last year we started to throw in a potluck or two. There was a huge crowd crammed into the fellowship hall. Good times. Good food. Good to mill around and get to know each other better!! Love it!

Pastor Conard show some pics from our Mozambique trip and gave a brief recap. We will always be a ‘sending’ church that supports others around the world and gives people the opportunity to see what God is doing all over the globe. Many more trips to come…go on one!

Huge thanks to all of our volunteers who have helped with the BBQ’s and Potlucks this summer. Seriously. You are a fantastic team. You show up, you are happy, eager, and just plain fun to be around. Crosspoint has some of God’s best volunteers anywhere!! Thank you thank you thank you!

Coming Up:

Retro Sundays, September 4 and 11. Wear something from the 70’s! Why not? We’re looking back at two really important themes that have propelled CP and we’re looking ahead at how we need to continue to be the church God is calling us to be. Can’t wait.

– Fall series, “Modern Family” kicks off on September 18th. Again, I can’t say this LOUD enough – – – We need every single person who calls this church to be their church to be here on the 18th and bring some new families with you! If you know someone who has been away or just not attending for awhile, INVITE them. Let them know they’ve been missed.

Youth, Kids, and Groups are all doing major changes and new ideas for Sept 18th and this Fall. We need you to volunteer. We need you to support these important ministries. We need you to help us get the word out. 🙂

“Go for it!” We’ll be coming to you again this fall and sharing how you and your family can be a part of the vision that God has given us. It’s not about money. OK, well, it involves money. It’s really about changed lives. We want to be a church where your children and their children and so on can come and hear about Jesus for generations to come. Please be praying about how your family can be a part of ‘Go for it!’

Just a few quick reminders to my favorite peoples from my favorite church:

– Potluck this Sunday. Stay and dine-in with several hundred of your closest friends! Bring a main dish, hot or cold, everything else is provided. I’m hearing there will be a ham carving station. I’ve never seen a ham carve before. Should be interesting.

– Sunday is the last day of our summer series. Hard to believe. We’re wrapping it all up with the movie “Mission Impossible”. Actually, we’ll be talking about how to make the mission of CP possible. Tag team preaching from Pastor Mark, Pastor Conard and Pastor Tim. Because it’s tag team preaching, Pastor Conard is going to wear a wrestling outfit. Or maybe not. Come see.

– I wish you all could sense the optimism and expectation for this Fall around our office. We really do feel like God is going to blow the doors and roof and walls and whatever else off of this place. It’s great to be in a church that wants to see spiritual break throughs in people’s lives like never before. We’ve seen a lot but we’re praying for more!

– Found people find people. Many of your friends, neighbors, co-workers, relatives, etc would be very opening to coming to church if: 1. They knew how much you enjoyed it. 2. They could see the difference Jesus is making in your life. 3. You invited them to come check it out.

Praying for you all!
See you Sunday!
Hope that Hurricane Irene holds off her visit until after lunch on sunday. 🙂

Sunday Wrap!

Happy Monday Crosspoint! Here is a quick look back at all the happs from yesterday. On the hill, behind the mill, in the ville.

– We continued our ‘Summer Blockbuster’ series with the movie, “Despicable Me”. God is rich in mercy, grace, kindness and love. Unconditional love can change anyone. It can break through the hardest heart. We need to be people of grace and mercy, rich in love. Ephesians 2:1-10

– The voice over video announcements were hee-larious. Loved it!

Great worship set! Let’s continue to really sing out our praise, raise our hands, declare that Jesus is Lord. Don’t hold back. Worship like you had a front row seat to the Resurrection!!!

– Lots of new faces yesterday. Wow! A lot of people visit churches during the summer. Don’t be shy about inviting people – you can tell them that we have tons of visitors every week.

– I was a little amped up in the opener of my message. 🙂 I’m just a little excited about the potential of this fall. Kids, teens, adults, everyone on board and working together. Our big fall series kicks off on Sunday, Sept 18th with the series “Modern Family”. I can’t say it enough, but we really, seriously, totally need everyone who calls this church their church to be here on the 18th. 🙂

Sunday Wrap!

15 08 2011

Happy Monday Crosspoint and welcome to another wrap up of another great Sunday! It was good to be home yesterday and awesome to be back in my favorite church with my favorite people. Here is a quick summary:

– We took a one week skip from our ‘Blockbuster’ series and did a Sunday focused on healing.

– We heard real live stories of healing from 2 Crosspointers, Mike Lynds and Sylvain Rioux. Great job guys! We need to be reminded that God still heals! Healing happens.

– I gave a mini-message on healing and then we invited people to come forward to be anointed and prayed over for healing by the elders of the church. It was powerful. James 5. Healing requires faith. If you doubt you’ll be healed, I doubt you’ll be healed.

– After the second service we walked down to the banks of the Nashwaak River and celebrated as 5 people were baptized! Woooooo. 🙂 I love baptisms!

– Yes, I did sing with the band yesterday. No, I won’t be doing it again any time soon. 🙂

Huge summer crowd yesterday! I think the temperature in the sanctuary matched the attendance.
