Sunday Wrap Incredible Easter Edition!!!

25 04 2011

THANKYOUJESUS!!!!!!!!!!! Whooooooo. Oh. My. Word. If you weren’t here yesterday, I’m not even sure how to put it into words. I doubt that the online video will capture even a small percentage of the Spirit that was in this place yesterday. We had an anticipation all last week that God was going to do something awesome. And, well, let me wrap it up and we’ll just thank God for all HE did. Wow.

Changed lives. That never gets old. It’s why we do what we do. People crossed over from death to life yesterday at Crosspoint. Someday we will all party in heaven and see the many lives that God radically transformed at Crosspoint!

Baptisms!! It’s official. Baptisms are my absolute favorite part of pastoral ministry. I’m hooked. We had 10 scheduled baptisms. I gave an invitation at the end of each service for ‘spontaneous’ baptisms. “You will get wet, you don’t have a change of clothes.” There were another 8 people who got up out of their seats, walked up onto the stage, and stepped into baptism!! In the second service we did 3 or 4 baptisms at the first of the service and then we went back into a few songs. I was running to get changed and I heard someone calling my name. Apparently 2 people had gone back stage and wanted to be baptized. Conard went out and told Ruth to stop at the end of that song because we had more baptisms. Yup, right in the middle of a worship set! Awesome!!

– Yesterday was the largest non-special event attendance that we think we’ve ever had. 598 people!!!

– The services all went late. The parking lot was insane. We couldn’t even do video announcements. Watch twitter this week to see when we post the video announcements and a promo clip for this Sunday. ๐Ÿ™‚

– LOVED the song, ‘Stronger’ as an ending to an Easter morning celebration!

– Our text was Acts 3 and 4. We printed them out so that everyone had the text in their hand. Acts 4:12 is why we do what we do. Love it.

– We had a huge Easter offering but I don’t have a total yet. Sorry.

Sunday Set List/Artist/Album
“Here Is Love” Bethel Live, Here Is Love
“We The Redeemed” Hillsong, Faith+Hope+Love
“Lead Me To The Cross” Hillsong United, All Of The Above
“Stronger” Hillsong, This Is Our God

So, now what do we do?

We pray for every single person who was at Crosspoint yesterday. Pray that God will continue to speak to them and put the right people in their path. We pray for our church and we invite people back for the Sunday after Easter. We get involved in our church, volunteer, get in a group, give, support, etc. Satan would love to tear this all down. We won’t shut up, let up, back up, or give up until Jesus takes us out of here!!

Some Pre-Easter Thoughts

19 04 2011

Hey Crosspoint! I hope you are having a fantastic Holy Week as the anticipation builds for Easter Sunday morning. We are praying for you and your families this week and trusting that God will open up some opportunities for you to invite others to Crosspoint for Easter. Here are a few thoughts I had on my mind tonight as I was thinking of al y’all.

– One of the main reasons we went to 3 services was to be able to handle much larger crowds on special days like Easter. We gave ourselves 4 Sundays before Easter to adjust to the service times, etc.

– We are all here because someone invited us. If you’ve been in this church since birth, ask your parents or grandparents and you will eventually find a time when they were invited to church. A few people find us online or by signage or something else but by far the biggest reason people show up is because they were invited.

– Most people are open to an invitation to church. I know. You aren’t so sure about that. They might not give a positive response right away, but people do wonder about spiritual things and they will think about your invitation. This is especially true if you are genuinely pumped about your church and if they see the difference it is making in your life. Tell them how Jesus has turned your life/family around and they will listen.

– Easter is a no-brainer time to invite. Like I said to someone today, “If you don’t already have a church to go to for Easter, I’d love to invite you to Crosspoint!”

– Facebook and Twitter are great ways to invite. Give a link to our site and just keep talking about all the positive stuff. Coffee, baptisms, music, etc. “What if there was a church that didn’t bore your brains out? What if there was a church where you feel like you’ve always belonged? What if there was a church where your kids and teens can’t wait to get to.” Stuff like that!

– This isn’t about getting seats on seats. I’m not interested in just drawing a crowd. This is about introducing people to Jesus. Even if they don’t dive in, they have heard the message. If you step out and invite people, I can promise you that we will do our best to present the entire service with excellence. I’m seriously putting everything I can into this Sunday’s message. ๐Ÿ™‚

– Go for it! Don’t be shy. Invite someone to Crosspoint for Easter Sunday. It’s gonna be awesome!

Sunday Wrap!

18 04 2011

Good morning Crosspoint!! This day reminds me of the series we are in, ‘Walking Dead’. It started pretty bleak, snowing, dark, overcast and now the sun is out and the skies are blue and it is warming up! Just like people walking out of the darkness and into the light. God is good.

A personal note before I give you the wrap. This series has been pretty intense by design. We decided to do 4 weeks in a row that are focused on helping people cross over from death to life. After all, it’s Easter and that is the message of the Cross. I carry the spiritual responsibility for our church and there is nothing I want more than to see changed lives for Jesus. There are many people in our church that God has given me a ‘burden’ for. (Pardon the verbage, it’s the only way I know how to say it!) All I can do is bring the message God has laid on my heart and leave the rest up to Him. Please join with me in praying for those who need to dive in this Easter!

– It was week 3 of our ‘Walking Dead’ series! Great crowd and lots of new faces. People ask me all the time, “What if everyone showed up on the same Sunday?” Well, I’d probably have a heart attack, Mark would revive me with coffee, and then we would party! We would easily be full all three services if everyone showed up.

– We talked about Peter’s denial, Luke 22. Bad things happen when you follow Jesus from a distance. Give God a big fat YES to anything he wants to do in your life!

– We shared communion together!! LOVE communion. Loved the song that Leah led us in during communion. Awesome. So good to reflect on Jesus’ sacrifice for our sin. Thankful. Blessed.

– We announced the bighonkinggiantEasteroffering that we need. Pray hard.

– We showed a baptism video from last summer in the Nashwaak. Several people signed up for Baptism on Easter Sunday!! Wooooo!! Can’t wait! ๐Ÿ™‚

Day of Prayer and Fasting

14 04 2011

Hey Crosspoint! I hope you are all having a fantabulous week. ๐Ÿ™‚ Tomorrow, April 15, is our day of prayer and fasting. We thought we’d give you a few suggestions and thoughts to guide your day. Here we go!

– Fasting is a biblical concept. Jesus fasted. It’s essentially denying yourself food and spending focused time with God.

– Drink liquids. Drink some good juices. Don’t put a Big Mac meal in a blender and call it fasting. The idea is to ‘deny yourself’. Your body will want food. That’s the point.

– You don’t have to be somber and deep in thought all day. Don’t mope around the office and tell people ‘I’m fasting’. ๐Ÿ™‚ If someone asks why you aren’t eating lunch – Bingo! There is your chance to talk about Jesus, Crosspoint, etc.

– If you can get alone on your lunch break, do it. Find a place where you can pray. Take a bible, a journal, maybe some music, and just be with God. If you can’t pray for a solid half hour, just spend the time listening to God and write down every thought He gives you.

– You can fast one meal or three. Whatever you think you can do. There is a seniors dinner here at the church Friday night and that is the way that they will ‘break-fast’. Now you know where that word comes from.

Day of Fasting Prayer Requests

– You’ll have many of your own as well, but here are a few things that Crosspoint would like you to pray for.

– Easter Sunday! Many new faces, changed lives for eternity, many baptisms!
– Crosspoint leadership. That we would stay out of God’s way, clear on the vision, focused, protected.
– Our new believers! Praying for spiritual growth of all of our new believers!
– Easter Sunday Offering. It’s the last Sunday of our church year and we need a whopper. An average offering is $8000 for the day. We’re trusting God for $25,000 or more!! Pray hard.

Some suggested Scriptures for Reading
– Luke 22, 23, and 24.
– Isaiah 53

Tweet and let us know what you are reading and when you are praying!

Sunday Wrap!

4 04 2011

Good morning Crosspoint and Happy Monday! The snow is going (again) the sun is shining and we’re pumped for a great week ahead. Copy and send this link around to your Crosspoint peeps and let’s keep everyone in the loop. Here we go:

Emily Woodworth, our Children’s Director, let us know that 3 children accepted Jesus yesterday!!! Whoo! That’s very exciting. These kids will never forget their days in our children’s ministry and the decisions they are making for Jesus!

– We had many people at the altars during our services yesterday! Thank God for the moving of His Holy Spirit and what He is accomplishing in our lives! Love it!

– We kicked off our Easter series, “The Walking Dead”. I love preaching about grace. Seriously. It’s my favorite topic. Nothing compares to the grace of God. We looked at John 4, the ‘Woman at the Well’. God isn’t afraid of your junk. He’ll go there. Grace deals with our past so that we can deal with our future. Just keep these five words in front of you, “Jesus, I accept your offer”.

– Yesterday was one of our largest non-holiday or special event attendances EVER! (499) Whoooo! Very cool. Very exciting. It’s all about Jesus and the vision God has given us for our city and beyond!

Revelation Song was absolutely the best possible way to end the service yesterday! Way to go Shea Guptill for digging deep and just bringin’ it for 3 services in a row! Awe-Some.

– The ‘free Crosspoint toque of the week’ goes to Alison Dossev for traveling from Petawawa to Crosspoint and doing the announcement-segue for the 2nd and 3rd services! Ali is also helping with our “Outlandish” church conference this week. ๐Ÿ™‚

Set List/Artist/Album
“All Because Of Jesus” Fee, We Shine
“Wonderful God” Paul Baloche, Glorious
“I Stand Amazed” Chris Tomlin, Passion:Everything Glorious
“Revelation Song” Kari Jobe, Gateway Worship:Living For You

Other Stuffs:

“Outlandish” happens this Thursday eve and all day Friday. We would love to have many happy Crosspointers here just welcoming people, making them feel special, and doing whatever needs to be done. If you can help, let us know!

Day of Prayer and Fasting, Friday, April 15th!

Special Easter offering!!
