Sunday Wrap

14 02 2011

Guess what? It’s snowing again! And our loyal boss is wearing shorts in the Dominican right now. With that in mind, let’s read some good news: The Sunday Wrap!

We wrapped up the Guardrails Series yesterday with two fantastic services. There was a huge crowd with lots of new faces, and better yet, people raised their hand to accept Jesus! WOOHOO! Keep inviting people; you’re only changing the world. 🙂

Worship was great — the highlight for many was the Rooftops song that had been taught at the Uprising Conference last weekend. It seems to be turning into a new Crosspoint anthem.

And video announcements….WOAH. Some of the most random and hilarious moments on video we’ve witnessed as a congregation took place yesterday, and people are still talking about them. Huge thanks to AJ Guptill and Brandon Ingraham (Pastor Emily’s finance, for those of you trying to figure out who that was) for their work on those!

Wesleyan missionaries to Haiti, Barry and Beth Gould, also shared with us during the service. Remember to keep praying for them, and contact Pastor Conard if you’d like more information about what they’re doing in Haiti, and how you can support them.

The sermon dealt with the daunting problem of sin — if we’re now controlled by the Spirit, why do we still sin? Hopefully you left feeling encouraged knowing that our power comes from our Father, and that He will carry us when we don’t have the strength. When in doubt, just think of the Darth Vader car commercial!

Here’s the set list for those of you who hunt down the music every week:
“Not To Us” Chris Tomlin, Not To Us
“Rooftops” Jesus Culture, Come Away
“The Wonder Of Your Love” Hillsong Live, Faith+Hope+Love
“Behold The Lamb Of God” Newspring Church Live Worship, Our God Is Love
“Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)” Chris Tomlin, See The Morning

And remember – next week we kick off our Groundhog Day series! We’ll be covering the Old Testament in 4 weeks. No, seriously. Don’t miss it!

Now for whatever reason, I feel like I need to go watch the Lion King.
