Sunday Wrap

31 08 2009

It’s a little tough for me to do a Sunday Wrap, since I wasn’t here yesterday! But, I have been hearing tons of good reports of a really great day all around. We’re blessed to have the team of people that we have!

Here’s a little bit of what I’ve been hearing:

– “The band was off the charts phenomenal yesterday.” Let’s never take for granted that we are pretty much spoiled week after week with Jesus-centered quality worship. The result of that worship should be lives that reflect Jesus to the world. Think about it, why would God bless our church with all this talent? Because He wants to do great things in us and through us!

– “Chris Saad took it to a whole ‘nutha level!” Way to go Chris. Make sure you have lots of caffeine every Sunday! God has you dancing to a whole new beat and it’s just awesome.

– “The sermon was powerful!” Mark has holes in his head, no seriously, he does. πŸ˜‰ I heard many people say that they really enjoyed and got a lot out of the message yesterday.

– “The final BBQ of the year was a sell-out!” We cooked it and you showed up to consume it! We’ll go with something totally new and different for next year, but I think we’d all say it was a success. You need to tell Pastor Conard and Debbie and the others you saw around the barby that you really appreciated their efforts!

We had a great drive home from Ottawa yesterday. Probably around 11 hours. Torrential rain around Quebec City. All in all it was a good week away and we are all ready for an amazing fall season of ministry at Crosspoint.

Coming Up:

You really don’t want to miss this Sunday. πŸ™‚ I’m definitely asking everyone on the planet to be here on the 13th, but I’m just giving you fair warning that this Sunday is going to be key to everything we do this Fall @CP. Our Oromocto launch is less than 2 weeks away. Word is out. People are showing interest. This will be a defining moment in our history that propels us into the future. You get to say “I was there!! I was a part of it!!”

I have successfully overtaken Tim’s blog this week while he and the rest of the Guptill clan are in Ontario. I even get to do the weekly Sunday Wrap! (On a Friday…)

This past Sunday was GREAT! Β The youth band and Ruth (“One of these things is not like the other…” -Ruth) did a fantastic job of leading us in worship, and Pastor John did an awesome job of answering the question, “What is sin?” Plus, we all got to share together in communion, which is always a powerful time. Β If you weren’t there, I hope you feel guilty. πŸ™‚ Just joking. Kind of.

Shortly after preaching, John and the teens took off to Fundy National Park for their annual camping trip…despite warnings of a hurricane! But, the weather held off and they all had a great trip and returned home safely on Tuesday afternoon. Hurricane Bill was no match for Hurricane Bill Moore!

This coming Sunday is shaping up to be great, and we hope you’re planning to attend! I’ll be answering our final big bad question: “If I’m forgiven, why do I still feel so messed up?” And the band is going to be ROCKING! Seriously, if you’re into music, you can’t miss this week… Hope to see you all there!

And a final BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: We’re going to be live-streaming our Sunday services this fall! What does that mean? It means that if you’re not actually at Crosspoint for service, you can watch it online…live! This is great news for people who are away, or work shift work, or are feeling ill, etc. They don’t have to miss church! Plus, it’s a great way for new people to check out church. Stay tuned for more information on this exciting web-tastic news.

Well, that about wraps it up. Tim and the family are planning to be back this week and he’ll be preaching up a storm on September 6th. How many thousands of people have you invited to Kick-Off Sunday?! Send them HERE to give them a taste of Crosspoint Church!

Sunday Wrap – Late Monday Night Edition!

17 08 2009

It’s 10:00 Monday night and the last few days have been absolutely amazing! This post is supposed to be a ‘Sunday Wrap’ but it’s really the last 3 days in one. Here we go!

– Our Oromocto Promo Day was a HUGE success by any measurement!! HUGE thanks to all of you crazy Crosspointers who showed up on one of the hottest days of the year, put on a black Crosspoint t-shirt, and served for 4+ hours on black pavement!!! Wow! What a church. We served hundreds of free burgers and hot dogs. We painted faces for four hours! We watched tons of kids bounce and bounce and bounce. We had our Youth Band cranking out the tunes. Whew! Many families said that they will definitely be at our launch service on Sept 13.

– We had another high-attendance summer Sunday. We had about 100 more than we had the same time a year ago. Think about it. Insane.

– We had another person get saved this Sunday. This is why we do what we do. We’ll have a Crosspoint reunion in heaven someday and we will all be amazed!!

– We have a lot of people who are close to making a decision for Jesus. You can feel it every service. We’re praying for you! Just sayin’.

– I had two people tell me on Sunday that they want to be baptized. Awesome. We’ll be filling the tank some Sunday soon and ‘dunk for Jesus’. Looking forward to it!

– I had a call today from a couple who are moving to the area and are really pumped about attending Crosspoint Oromocto!

– We had an awesome board meeting tonight. Yes, I said ‘awesome board meeting’. These are visionary people who aren’t afraid of taking some risk and being a church that is making a difference.

– Off the top of my head (easy when you have no hair) I can think of 20-25 Crosspointers who were directly involved in our ministry today. Think about that. On a hot sticky Monday in August, we had that many people around the church or involved in meetings – all helping us push the vision down the field.

Lots going on this week. There’s a buzz around the church for this Sunday’s worship. God is good.

Boost-5Boost-6Here’s a look at our promo postcard that will be going out to 10,000 homes in the Greater Oromocto Area! Thanks to our good friends at Razor Creative for another amazing looking piece.

So. We’re pretty much all set for our Giganormous Stupendalicious Crosspoint Oromocto Multi-Site Promo Day. (Say that 10x fast!) I really do hope that you have been getting the word out and that you are planning to stop by. You’ll see Crosspoint banners, a giant bounce castle, a giant bbq, a flatbed trailer with our band playing, etc. It’s going to be a big day in our history.

Sunday Wrap Up

10 08 2009

Wow. God is awesome. Here’s a look back:

Two people stood to their feet in the second service and invited Jesus into their lives!! That never gets old!!! That is why we do what we do! Seeing people cross the line of faith and give everything to Jesus and make him 1st in their lives is the most exciting thing on the planet!! Wooooooooooooooooooooooo!!

– I might have been just a little bit amped up yesterday. Haha. Many of you thought I was going to blow a gasket. It was really fun. I love talking about the church, the church that WE are called to be. I honestly believe that the local church is the hope of the world and there is nothing like the local church when the local church is working right!

– The message was a church/marriage combo deal. If you missed it, you can listen off of our main site.

Worship was out of this world. Seriously. For a Sunday morning in August our team took it to a whole ‘nutha level! Way to step it up and give us a taste of how awesome this Fall is going to be.

– Many people are staying for the BBQ’s after church and getting to know other Crosspointers. Very cool.

– Did I mention that two more people got saved on Sunday??

– Oh yeah, there were two other adults that got saved around the middle of last week. No joke. “Conard, get your baptism trunks on!”

– Many of our Youth are at District Teen Camp on Caton’s Island this week. Pray that they will have a God-awesome-life-changing-week!

Thank you Jesus.
